Over 600 Tallahassee Community College faculty and staff participated in the college’s recent Student Success Summit on Campus and Civic Engagement, at which Impact America’s founder, Stephen Black, spoke as the Summit’s keynote speaker.
The article, “TCC takes time to focus on connecting students and the community,” presented Black’s remarks on the need for service-learning opportunities that go beyond straightforward volunteering.
Mike Coleman, TCC’s Director of Campus and Civic Engagement, additionally remarked: “”My vision is to get a more engaged campus in general so their talents are highlighted. Not only are they giving back, but the students themselves are able to obtain real-life skills.”
Bret Ingerman, TCC’s Vice President for Information Technology, says the Summit proves that, as a community college, TCC “takes our role in this community very seriously.”
