Born and raised in Birmingham, AL, but most recently hailing from sunny San Diego, CA, Isabel graduated cum laude from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2016. As an undergraduate, she majored in English literature and completed an honors thesis in creative writing. She served as editor-in-chief for the school’s literary magazine and a volunteer after-school tutor for local youth. After working with Impact America, Isabel hopes to pursue a Master’s degree in English and one day become a teacher.
What do you like to do for fun?
For fun, I love to read, cook, spend time outside, and cheer on the Tar Heels during basketball season (next year is our year!) Guilty pleasures include binge-watching The Bachelor.
Do you have a nickname? How did you get it / what does it mean?
A lot of friends call me “Isa” (pronounced ee-sa) for short because half of my family is from Colombia, South America and that’s what my late Abuela called me.
