Maria Ramos, a native of Brewton, AL, graduated magna cum laude from the University of Montevallo with a Bachelor of Science in psychology. During her time at Montevallo, she was active in her sorority, where she was able to become very involved in its national philanthropy: Children’s Miracle Network Hospital; she also participated in many other community service events around the Birmingham area, including the Buddy Walk for Down Syndrome in Hoover, AL and “The Big Event,” which served citizens in the Montevallo community. During her senior year, Maria was named Senior Elite in the psychology department. It was during this year that she was also given the honor of being named Ms. Montevallo, the school’s Homecoming Queen during its longstanding College Night tradition. Maria held many leadership positions while attending Montevallo, some of which included recruitment and social chairs for Phi Mu, co-director of Catholic Campus Ministries, and treasurer/secretary for Psi Chi (the National Psychology Honor Society). After working with Impact Alabama, Maria plans to continue expanding her experience in the professional realm of serving and helping others.
What do you like to do for fun?
I enjoy a variety of activities depending on my mood, but the activities I find myself enjoying the most would include: reading (I’m a big fan of authors Paulo Coelho and Chuck Palahniuk), listening to music, binge watching Netflix, and exploring Birmingham with friends. While I’m at home (in the vastly entertaining Brewton, AL), I enjoy playing with my dog and playing video games.
