If you’re spending the summer in Tuscaloosa or Birmingham and want to help area high-school students get a jump start on their Advanced Placement courses, CollegeFirst is for you!
CollegeFirst provides college students the opportunity to implement a Pre-AP summer academic enrichment program for high school students in Tuscaloosa and Birmingham. As a CollegeFirst mentor, you will spend one week (May 30 – June 2, 2017, 8:00am – 12:00pm each day) learning how to be a pre-AP mentor in calculus, biology, chemistry, English, or computer science. The following three weeks (June 5 – 22, 2017, 7:45am – 12:15pm each day) will be spent mentoring and tutoring high school students who plan to take an AP course in the upcoming school year. UA students may be eligible to receive course credit for UH 300 and New College (upon request). Demonstrated ability in your preferred subject area is a prerequisite to selection.
Application Priority Deadline: May 1, 2017
