Born and raised in Pearl, MS, James graduated from Mississippi College with a B.S. degree in Communications. He also earned a Master of Divinity from Beeson Divinity School at Samford University. James spent several years working in public relations as well as local ministry. He has served on the boards of several non-profit organizations in areas of media, youth, education and diversity. He is an adjunct instructor of African American Studies at UAB and speaks regularly on the topic of racial justice and church history.

 

What do you like to do for fun?

Reading a good book, watching a good game or playing a good joke on either of my two kids

Frederick Douglass – what a powerful orator, prophetic speaker and courageous leader.

What’s something most people don’t know about you?

I auditioned for The Apprentice. Yes, I applied for a job working for Donald Trump.
