Raised in Westerville, Ohio, Kamaria Thomas attended The Ohio State University and graduated cum laude in 2018 with a BA in sociology and women’s, gender and sexuality studies. As a student, Kamaria served as the co-chair of the African American Heritage Festival which is a 40-year tradition celebrating Black history and culture. After serving with Impact America, Kamaria wants to pursue her PhD.

What was your most meaningful service experience?
For three years, I volunteered at a juvenile correctional facility and it became my most meaningful experience. I was able to have real-life impact on the lives of young men while they were simultaneously impacting my life.

Who is someone you admire and why?
Angela Davis’ lifelong dedication to social justice and implementing change for disadvantaged people never fails to inspire me.
