What is your favorite quote from a book, film, or song?
“It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.” – J. K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

What was your most meaningful service experience or extracurricular activity in college and why?
I was given the opportunity to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity as an undergraduate student. Our team was assigned to work for a woman who lost everything during the April 2011 tornadoes. Not only did I learn new home-building skills, but also grew in my overall sense of social responsibility to those in need in the local community. The homeowner’s reaction when she saw her new home was a really eye-opening experience for me. As a native of the area, this incidence in particular hit home and it was so rewarding to see such a positive impact this project made in her life and the community.

Name and describe a memorable place you’ve been.
My friends and I traveled to Prague, Czech Republic, for a weekend while we were studying abroad at Humboldt University in Berlin. We visited the John Lennon Wall that paid tribute to the late lead singer of The Beatles. There were local musicians who played covers of The Beatles, and locals and tourists added new graffiti artwork as a sign of peace and freedom of speech. It was a very cool experience!
