Born and raised in Charleston, SC, Shonice graduated from University of South Carolina – Upstate as a sociology major with a minor in non-profit administration. In the final semester of her senior year, she earned the very first Mission Delivery Internship at Make-A-Wish South Carolina. Shonice plans on going on to attend graduate school to earn a master’s degree in public administration.

What was your most meaningful service experience or extracurricular activity in college and why?
Interning at Make-A-Wish South Carolina was the most meaningful service experience in college. Being able to grant the one true wish of critically ill children was so fulfilling. The wishes provided them something to look forward to and with a memory that’ll last them a lifetime.

Who is someone you admire and why?

Someone I admire most would be my mother. She raised me by herself and put me through school by working two jobs. She’s done all of this while having to take care of my grandfather who was diagnosed with dementia five years ago.

What do you like to do for fun?
I like to try out new restaurants with friends and explore the city.
