SaveFirst Training and Operations Manager

Job Description

  • FocusFirst, a high-tech vision care initiative serving young children in urban and rural areas
  • SaveFirst, a free tax preparation initiative serving low-income, working families 
  • SpeakFirst, a debate and college preparatory program for middle- and high-school students 

 

General Description: Under supervision from the SaveFirst Director and in collaboration with State/Regional Directors, the SaveFirst Training Manager oversees all aspects of training/support and operations/logistics with a focus on best practices and compliance.

 

Training and Support

  • Updates the SaveFirst training curriculum for AmeriCorps Members and volunteers
  • Assesses needs on an annual basis and creates new training materials as needed 
  • Coordinates with the regional office SaveFirst Team Leads regarding tax training, including conducting training for regional office as needed in the absence of a team leader or other staff
  • Maintains IRS certification and stays up-to-date on IRS publications, tax law changes, etc.
  • Ensures all compliance requirements are met relating to training, certification, and volunteers.
  • In collaboration with State/Regional Directors, ensures AmeriCorps members receive regular and as needed support, oversight, and guidance.
  • Coordinates with State/Regional Directors and AC Director to plan SaveFirst training hours.
  • Collaborates with SaveFirst Director and Regional Office staff to prepare an on-call schedule to provide direct support to AmeriCorps Service Members while they are serving at tax sites.
  • Provides direct support to AmeriCorps Members when scheduled.
  • As a member of Impact America’s leadership team, serves as a role model for professional behavior and adherence to organizational policies and procedures.

 

Operations and Logistics

  • Establishes and monitors standard processes for program implementation in regional offices.
  • In collaboration with Regional Directors, organizes and monitors all logistical needs for successful tax site operations.
  • Develops and updates guides, resources, and publications for use at tax sites and coordinates with Regional Offices and SaveFirst Director to ensure all tax site supplies are available
  • Provides logistical support and problem-solving throughout tax season.
  • Researches and identifies more efficient methods of meeting operational needs for the SaveFirst program.
  • Oversees the successful setup of IRS-provided tax preparation software across all service areas.
  • Oversees the volunteer requirements for compliance with the IRS or any other regulatory bodies.

  • Some familiarity and definite interest in tax law
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask 
  • Calm presence under pressure
  • Approachable and ability to collaborate with others

 

Salary: Commensurate with experience

Reports to: SaveFirst Director
